A month before the official inauguration of the winter season in Bansko, the town is all hustle and bustle. Seventy new hotels are built in the resort. Last winter a bit more than 250,000 tourists visited Bansko. We expect this season their number to be over 350,000, explains mayor Alexander Kravarov. Ten new hotels will have opened by December 18 when the winter season will be officially inaugurated. The only five-crown hotel in the resort town - the Kempinski, however, will open in February next year. It is situated only at 50m from the starting station of the cable car. The concessionaire of Bansko ski centre - Yulen AD has invested over 12 million euros in new facilities. Two lifts will be put in operation this winter. The first is 1100 m long and the other is 2600m. There will be a new ski track along each of the lifts. Thus the tracks will be 16 of the 65 km total length. The company is involved in another large-scale construction of the whole length of the cable car. Along the entire ski track that is 7 km long, artificial snow facilities are installed as well as illumination. We are considering the idea of providing conditions for night skiing, stated Yulen executive director Ivan Obreykov. Hristo Stoychkov and two famous Austrian skiers will be the first to ski on December 18. Last year the famous Italian skier Alberto Tomba opened the season. I will just slide down and only God knows whether I will be able to stop there, commented Stoichkov. On October 25th he became a citizen of Bansko and was decorated with the medal of an honorary citizen. The resort has got four new parking lots. Besides two new bus routes will be opened to transport tourists in the winter season. The first will run for the guests of the Pirin Hotel, Vihren Hotel and Strajite Hotel and the other's route connects Aneli Hotel and Glazne Hotel with the starting station of the cable car.

Hi Sofia,Im going in January, 29th!! (2 months and 2 weeks???)
Totally agree with the sun-lover-thing; when it's snowing here, the whole traffic is a mess.... but on the other side it's beautifull to see the landscape all in white..
