Just finished reading a report from someone ( Bansko) complained about the lack of english spoken. Did you not try the time honoured tradition of shouting loudly at the person you wanted to talk to , all the time gesturing like you are

If that didn't work , maybe you need to refresh your skills.

PS I went to Bansko, the resort was very nice, the mehanas welcoming and the locals some of the friendliest that I have met. The fact that is was a bit less developed, ( if i want to go to a McDonalds I will go over here thanks) made it more special.

I suppose some people are just born to complain.

People going to Bansko please be assurred that you will have a good time, if you are willing to understand that it is a new resort and still learning a bit.

the language isn't as difficult as it seems you just need a copy of their alphbet and it will show you the sounds of thier letters to ours and while their are some differences the words are said as they sound, if you attempt to speak their language you would be suprised how friendly people are even if they don't understand you and if you ask they will help you

why is it brits seem to believe the whole world should speak english, yet few of us attempt to speak any other language???? How conceited is that!!!

don't be put off all you english speakers as english is now taught in Bulgarian schools as their second language, but with years under communist rule why would they have learnt to speak english
We found many of the older generation spoke German, so you could try that oh can't speak that either!!!

be aware the bulgarians are very proud of their heritage and their language I think it is the only language left in the world still using the cryllic alphebet, so instead of critising the lack of english spoken perhaps it might be worth reading a bit on the bulgarians history and culture
