The snow in pamps seems to be a bit rubbish, i wanted to go skiing but also have the experience of snow everywhere eg; around the hotels (staying in Hotel Pamp 10 March)
Have many other places in europe had it as bad this year?
I'am hoping it wont put me off going to pamps next year.
I went to Andorra at the end of January - less than half the slopes were open, there was absolutely no snow in the village and everything was artifical snow up on the slopes... We spent the whole week doing the same run as an intermediate group which wasn't much fun.
Just look at Ski Sunday - hardly anywhere in Europe has had snow this year - it's been a particularly bad year.
Europe jas had it bad this year not just Bulgaria. I picked a customer up 2 weeks ago (I am a taxi driver) who had been to Italy I forget the resort. He had the same problem very little snow and said that if they had gone the following week he would not have been able to ski.
I was in Soll in Austria in mid January and it was terrible.
Only man made snow on upper levels and none in resort.
The resort actually closed while we were there and although we were able to go to another resort nearby it was still a bad experience as there was not much else to do.
The poor season has not just been confined to Bulgaria this year. I am going to Pamporovo this Saturday so fingers crossed. Also even if the snow is poor the lower costs involved take the sting out of it ...

Austria was expensive take it from me.
We went to Austria 2004 and France 2005, both time in January and it wasn't good, even though those seasons weren't too bad. So, we decided to splash out and had two weeks in Whistler Feb 2006. It was amazing - but it did cost about £3,500.
Only one week in Bansko this year but hopefully it will be good (fly out on 3-Mar).
The point is, January is too early for Europe. Booking end of Feb beginning of March is the best bet. Although it's never guaranteed.
Look at the pictures now - i think you'll enjoy yourself - a colleague has just come back from Morzine and had no snow either... late snow seems a better bet.
who's booking for Easter 2008 - it's 22nd March...
--wrong--
snow in the higher resorts in the Alps is fine at the moment.do your research before deciding where to go.
skip andora and lower places this season.
just a sample of places where the snow is deep- val thorens ,Alpe d'huez,Avoriaz, les 2 alps, anything above 1800 is just fine in the Alps and now very reasonable too.
Just back from 2 weeks skiing -everything was openned.
