Not quite in the buff, but a group of us skied in our trunks on the glacier at Kaprun in Austria about 10 years ago for a laugh. We were skiing at 9500 ft and it was about -10. After a couple of minutes I noticed that I had gained two extra adams apples.
On the way up to the top one of the lads operating the chair lift came running out when we got off. I though he was going to throw us off the mountain, but he only wanted a picture of us.
definately a good thermal base layer on top and bottom, i have never had to wear anything other than a thermal base layer top and bottom and the ski jacket and salopettes over the top.
all my stuff is HellyHansen and i would truly recommend the thermals, ive got about 6 sets of the things!!!
HH thermals are on sale at Cotswalds at the moment. I agree though, I always wear thermals occasionally micro fleece if really cold. As well as good gloves get good socks as well.
If they are proper base layers that wick moisture they are ok. If not you've still got a bit more shopping to do
The first year I went boarding I took cotton t -shirts and to be honest they made the suitcase stink when I was packing to come home.
And I wonder what are you going to do?
Skiing or sitting in the cold?
Wearing all this clothes while skiing you will be melting like butter in the sun. I recommend long cotton underwear, a roll-neck termal sweat (to protect against the wind) and a ski jack. Of course gloves and glasses. If it is going to be too cold . Thats all. I did so many times before and I am still alive.
