My teenage son and myself are going to pamporova on a 3star allocation on arrival ski break. A bit worried now in case the hotels are dodgy. Thinking of trying to pay extra and upgrade. Any thoughts or recommendations please?
Should be ok as long as they dont put you in the Rhozen (Frozen Rhozen) went allocation on arrival ended up there. Rooms basic but warm, food interesting, but I did enjoy it, though most didn't seem too. Reason for the "Frozen", you might need your ski jacket in the dining room.

3 star should be OK in Pamporovo (spelt P A M P O R O V O ) and remember you will spend very little time in the hotel itself as you will be out skiing and partying most of the time.
Meals in the hotels, whatever the star rating can only be described as moderate, but it is so cheap to eat out that you'll probably do this more often than not.
Breakfast in most hotels is fine, scrambled, fried or boiled eggs, toast, sausages, hams, cheeses, and as much juice, tea or coffee as you want ...

Evening meals are usually a choice of chicken, fish, veal, soup, cassorole, plus a choice of deserts.
I would recommend that as long as you don't expect the Ritz you'll be fine.

and if they have fresh cookies in the morning: Take them in a serviette, put them in your skivest..excellent with the hot choc with/without rum hhhmmmm
Me and 3 others ended up in the Rhozen last jan, rooms are not cold. but spent very little time in the hotel. its real cheep to eat out. I reckon that most hotels provide naff food just to claim FB/HB. Does anybody really eat at their hotels? I'm going on the 28th jan this year and have paid an extra £40 aprox to increase the named on arrival to a min of 3 star hotel with balkian. Rhozen is classed as a 2 star, so if we get that hotel I WILL be complaining. Main reason for avoiding Rhozen is ...

You will still have agreat time regardless as it dosn't grate on you if you have to pay out side your hotel in the evening. as every where is so cheap. Have a great holiday GUY.
Nice to see a "not too damning" report of this hotel.
We're staying there because it is basic.
Whichever hotel we're stayed in, we've always ended up eating out in the evening as the food is so good elsewhere.
So as long as it's clean and warm (and the hot water for the shower isn't too scarce) I'll be happy.
