Hi Drew my friend is flying from Doncaster same day, she is taking her daughter (13) and niece (12) staying in the Perelik, they have been before so sure they would have a natter over coffee in the airport,
Pamps hotel is lovely, we shall be going there a few nights to the irish bar, its geared up for the kids, has a games room and bowling alley, I stayed there with 7 kids and their parents a few years ago and they all loved it, last year we stayed in the murgavets but the people with ...

food is typical bulgarian, lots of healthy salads, you have to go with an open mind regarding the food, none of the kids we go with have any problems.
Much less chance of you being mugged there than in the UK - its not that kind of place.
take english pound and some levs or cash card there is a bank outside the Perelik, the rate is better in the bank with either cash or card, than in the Pamps hotel,
you are going to love it, what to do is simple - enjoy yourselves!!! husky rides, bum boarding, buy a bell off the bell seller on the first day then they will remember you and not trouble you the rest of the holiday, other than being very pleasant to you - just barter first before you buy - other people on here will give you ideas of how much to pay for the bells - you will not want one, but it is rude not to, and it does bring back the memories and a smile to your face once you return from the hol and keep seeing it, Kids need warm gloves we have had many tears from children with cold fingers.
Very Happy

you should not get mugged just be the same as you would in the UK take care and dont act stupid.

buy some bells from diesel when you first arrive then you get left alone everyday on the slopes.

food in the resturants is very good, beer is cheap if you are in ski school ask the instructed to recommend where to eat on the slopes we had some great food realy resonable.

If you take money out the cash machine cover your pin number there were a lot of reports last year of card ...

If you take money out the cash machine cover your pin number there were a lot of reports last year of card copying just be aware.

either pound or stirling will be ok take a few leves for the first day as you will possibly arrive late and be on the slopes early.

drink plenty of hot chocolate and brandy.

be prepered to wait for ski bus as the hotel pamps is one of the last pick ups if I remeber right and by this point the bus is usually quiet full.

make sure you go to all the bars and have a great time
and welcome to the board

re: pamporovo family tips

just get the kids one to put on their coats, just the little bells.
The hotel is lovely, a big roaring fire in the reception area, two bars a nightclub, think its around 7 to 10 lev to use the sauna - that was the going rate in most of the hotels last year, the jacuzzi can be luke warm, so test it first before you hand the cash over....
Rooms cleaned daily. restaurant can get very busy so you will need to work out the best time to get there, probably as soon as they open.....

There are a few shops in the reception area, it is about a 5 minute walk up the hill to the main area where you will find all the other hotels and nightclubs, but having kids I reckon you will find you will be in the pamps most nights. the coach to the slopes stops outside your hotel, again this can be busy so you need to try to be at the front of the queue - alternatively if its getting late and you are worried ski school ( if you are having lessons) will go without you get into a taxi for arount 12 lev.

Hiya Drewbie.
Make sure you take some sterling in clean, undamaged notes and ask at reception for the best place to get it changed. The porter at the Perelik hotel gave me the best rate last january and it was a safe place to change money. Have some levs ready on your first morning for the deposit on your lift passes ( last year it was 6 levs each pass, refund on the slopes on last day before you get on the free bus for the last time. I'm sure lots of people forget). Also you'll all need ...

Definitely don't leave valuables in hotel rooms (worldwide rule).
I don't know about the Pamporovo but the Perelik only had safes in reception which cost around £4 a week. Peace of mind £4, nuff said...
The bells are different sizes from tiny 1 inch to 6 inch cowbell. I paid about £2 each for the 2 inch bells at the end of the day when the guys would probably have taken less with haggling late in the day. If you do buy 1 each then don't be scared of asking for discount for bulk purchases Wink
Relax and enjoy yerself Very Happy Your on holiday
