Hi, just back today after great week of skiing. Stoykie run 1 (on new maps numbered as run 16) is closed but has lots of snow and is been used to "free-style skidown past Tedys Bar. Will be open next week.
I was just wondering why only like half the runs are open... Yet all the lifts are open and green run 7 which is serviced by one lift, the run is closed but the 4 man is open. Just so confused...
it's just for one person, but doesn't seem that easy on the Pamporovo website as booking ti for one person means a private lesson which is far too expensive, and part of a group or school are the two other options which are for at least 2 or 6 people respectively. Balkan is £44 for 6 days 2 hours a day lessons, but apparently it's too late now to book it. Sunday 8th Feb for 6 days.
Is Helen on this site this year? She can advise if Moey is in resort who does great deals on private lessons?
On the snow in Pamps, this is perhaps where Pamporovo differs from other BG resorts. As its mainly grass runs and not Rocky you only need a few CMs of base and you can board ski.
Unusual to hear that pistes aren't open though when clearly they've been getting snow. They need to crack on and get them open.
Not in need of a private lesson necessarily, just something equivalent of what holiday operators offer... just a group lesson for a couple of hours a day for all 6 days as we'll be skiing (or boarding) together after anyway. Thanks for all the info so far, shame the webcams looks like torrential rain in places, especially malina!!!
another thing i noticed is that it says all 12 lifts are open, but one of the lifts (the 2 man by the looks of it is serving a run that doesn't show as open (9?).. anyone got any info as i've heard before that the run down the back of the mountain is a nice one, but rarely open?
I used that lift all last week, so did the army soldiers in full kit brushing up on their skiing. (there is a camp 1Km below the lift) The lift services the south side of the mountain and Smolyan that's why it is open. The run down to it is Blue 9 Smolyan Lakes. As it is south facing and contains rocks it is rarely open.
Gaz.
