Just hope the snow boots did'nt go missing. This is why Amanda has to be careful where things are left - one would think that you could trust reception staff in a hotel! Sad world we live in sometimes
I have left donations in the baggage room in the Hotel Perelik (sorry not the pamps palace). There are two black bags from me - one has three pairs of snow boots uk size 10, 7 and a childs 2 and the other has childs aged 8 ski all in ...

Hi CaroleForest Nooky left his donations with Moey (my hubby) not at the Perelik, and he delivered them to the institue, and also confirmed this with Amanda and Jasmin. He was happy to do this as he lives in Stoikite. The donation was delivered in full.

Amanda,This is causing me some concern.
Are you saying that the staff at the Orphanage cannot be trusted? If staff are 'stealing' what people are taking for the children have they been approached or reported to the Police?
And surely this will have a detrimental effect on peoples confidence in bringing things over.
At the very least the Orphanage governor should be made to explain what is happening.
Please put my mind at rest over this.

Heh Pete+others, welcome to the real BG.That is the whole reason why they have the orphanages in the first place. People dont care and would quite openly rob the donations.
Thats life in a poor country and trying to solve the insolvable is never going to be easy.

Pete, the things went missing because they were left at the Perelik hotel. The orphanage is ok because everything is handed to Amanda, and the Peace corp worker is there to see over everything . we have stressed before that nothing should be handed to the staff.Helen, sorry I am getting confused. Yes, amanda did say that your husband knew Jasmin and had arranged to hand things over from F.Nooky (sorry I referred to F.N. as a female

Amanda I am so sorry this caused so much trouble, as Maria said we were promised by the thompson rep that the stuff would be safe and only handed over to you to collect in the next few days. I feel totally gutted for the kids.
I am now going to write to Thompsons and ask them for compsation for the lost clothing. Obvisouly IF they cough up any money I will be forwarding the money to the fund.

Thanks to all for the great welcome to the board (my daughter came up with that name, Pete!), so sorry about the clothes and the problems we caused you Amanda, we weren't meant to leave till 6.30pm but were given an hours notice before leaving at 1.30 due to the airport closures and starting the 9 hr transfer to Greece so we couldn't get the stuff to the right drop off point.Am joining you in writing to Thomsons, Jackie, will email you later

Maria, should you need any help from me just ask. Don't worry you were not to know, there are good people and bad people in this world and unfortunatly one of the staff at Perilik are bad. I believe in the old fashioned saying what comes around goes around. At least they did not take it all and the boots were fantasic.

I am glad she is back as she is not married, no children of he own and really loves these children, she has worked there for 12 years. she is the only member ofstaff i trust
