My advice if you havent already booked your accomodation is to book Half Board into the highest star hotel and stay indoors every night after a visit to Happy End.
sounds like a good idea to me, cheers for your review.
I must admitt we were put off going to bansko again due to the building work and unless they enlarge the ski slopes and access to them over the next five years would not return due to the amount of people likely to be there, my opinion, food though never had a bad meal and thought it was far from being peasent food could just be where you chose to eat. have read many reports this year about cost of food and drink on the slopes looks like they have increased the cost quiet dramatically this ...

Ski Legend I think you need to get out a bit more, the blokes in big blankets were wearing tradition costumes, the food was far better than you get in the UK. I would also disagree on your recommendation of going half baord, most of the people I talked too who went half baord were eating out in the local eating houses after a couple of day.
How much Bulgarian did you learn before you went on holiday not everyone in the world speaks English.
My advice to you is go to Blackpool new year.
People like you should not leave the UK! Bulgaria is an Eastern Euro country for goodness sake - where are you from in the UK - have you visited your own capital for instance - my London born and raised children have more umph and outlook on other cultures than you
I have just come back from Bansko so thought I would add my thoughts
Research WAS carried out on the venue but as you would expect, websites etc forget to mention the place is a building site. Bulgaria was chosen with the culture in mind, we went self catering and ate in the local restaurants (avoiding the English bar) We were not impressed with the food - in fact I came away loosing weight (never happens!)
As mentioned though (and has been lost in this thread) the ski-ing was fantastic ...

As mentioned though (and has been lost in this thread) the ski-ing was fantastic and I do not have a bad word to say about that.
I doubt I would go back but if I did, it would not be for at least another 4 years as it will take at least that amount of time to finish (at least some) of the work.
Hi,
Just back from Bansko myself and found it quite interesting what Ski legend said, and I have to say having read it, I agree!! (Hear me out 1st)
Ski legend stated skiing was excellent and could not be faulted, and lets face it that’s what we go there for!
And on the slopes yes the view is lovely, but that where it stops.
Having travelled the 120km fro Sophia to Bansko I did not see anything to suggest this was a lovely country! I know it’s very poor, and before all of you start to ...

Having travelled the 120km fro Sophia to Bansko I did not see anything to suggest this was a lovely country! I know it’s very poor, and before all of you start to have a go, but does that mean we have to lie, to make ourselves feel better.
I also stayed in apartments so I could sample some traditional fair and ate out every evening but lets face it I only found 2 places which were ok the rest were bloody awful, The person who ate out ever evening and never had a bad meal was either very lucky or had been before.
I for one did not feel intimidated but was weary as had been told about the high crime rate, and I think this is where you all went wrong with Ski legend (They said they felt intimidated!) so all of you people who had a go shame on you! As the old saying goes RTFQ!!!
And lets face it they are right about the coach loads of works who eye you up as you walk by but lets face it they are much like our work force I suppose.
I must say though I did find some people not very help full and before you all start again no its not because I was ignorant I did try and learn to speak some of the lingo and in my book manners cost nothing so it had nothing to do with my attitude.
I think what was written is a fair reflection on Bansko with no holds barred and lets face it this is what this forum is about is’it to get the peoples opinion.
hi just sitting here reading your reports, never been to bansko but go to borovets and i can say that I have never encountered anything that you are saying there. The people are friendly and no building works and...well the food is different but when in rome. cheap holiday, if you want more try canada or switzaland, then you will pay for it.
