can anyone recommend a good red bulgarian wine to save me trying loads, something easily available and very drinkable please C []

I think the best are; Mavrud and Domain Boyar, they are very tasty and every where in the shops, You can first taste them in the bars and restarants.

Try 'No Man's Land'. It's from the Damianitza winery in the South-West region of Bulgaria.

if you drink enough the taste dosnt realy matter after one or two bottle anything tastes great Razz

There are many decent quality Bulgarian reds on sale in major supermarkets in the UK now.

Try them before you go, excellent taste even better value for money.

I even cam recommend the No Mans Land from Damianitza as the most of Damianitza wines, they are the best in Bulgaria, may be you can find some ReDark he won the wine price Mundus Vini this year for Merlot wines. Even good to drink is Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon and some Merlots best these from Stambolovo or Haskovo. Best Cabernets come from souther bulgaria the Danube Valley. Best Mavruds from Thrakian Valley. Evne you can try a new variety on the market called Rubin is crossed ...

Evne you can try a new variety on the market called Rubin is crossed in the late 40th last centuary from Syrah(Shiraz) and Nebbiolo varieties and really tasty you can get some one from Damianitza called Uniqato, even there is a Melnik Uniqato and even great, or from Brestoviza in the Thracian Valley too.

I payed for two half bottles 110 lev in Damianitza visit the winery on wednesday for a tasting, don't forget to tell you the wine I bought was from 1964....
