reliable summary of borovets

came back from borovets yesterday. stayed at hotel lion which was a very good hotel with good food and friendly staff. weather was good and plenty of snow. resort suffers when gondala lift shuts as this reduces the skiing area to half. during our six days skiing the gondala was only fully open on two days, and half open on another two days. when the gondala shuts the slopes infront of the rilla get very very busy and as the green runs cut across all the red runs , you get a dangerous mix of beginners crossing the paths of faster skiiers. also the red runs by the rilla are narrow so when they are the only runs open they soon lose their snow and become very icy.ski school with borosports was a random affair, we had very different levels of skiiers in our intermediate group, half of them left to go on their own way during the week. i think ski school is only benefical to 1st or 2nd time skiers who will really enjoy it.very cheap to eat out and drink. pizza 11 lev beer 3 lev, taxi generally 10 or 15 levs back to resort from farthest runs. another point to be aware of is a long walk from bottom of slopes back to gondola so better to ski on top half of mountain and go back up by half way station or four man chair lift, hope this helps?

Also just back from Borovets and I would agree with what Patrick says I will also write a report up another day with some feedback also about the Ski Kindergarden in the Rila.
