Just booked to go to borovets in 2005. decided not to book lift pass or to hire skis and boots before we go but have read that we can ammend our booking if we want . have we made the wrong decision not booking them? keep reading different things on different websites.
also, i've been ski-ing once before - i really enjoyed it but wasn't very good at it so would people recommend ski school? I'm soooo confused. And finally, we've booked to stay in the samokov - i went there in the summer ...

BOOK YOU SKI'S ETC BEFORE YOU GO!!!Cann't be more plain than that...
You will spend loads if you book it there.

Oh and yes it is well worth having some more lessons, you can always drop out later in the week if you find out you are superbre: renting equipment etc
book your ski pack and lessons before you go!alternatively hire skis and boots in this country,that way you know they are in good condition before you go but remember that you will be charged for carriage.

Amend that booking TODAY. Rest assured it WILL cost you a fortune, at least double, if you wait until you get there. The ski pass alone was nearly £100 in Borovets last year!!From what I understand the Samokov is fine but the food is not to everyone's liking but that is the same for most hotels. Fraser is the authority on the Samokov - if I remember rightly you can upgrade to another restaurant there where the food is much better.

Samakov is fine, could do with updating a bit but im quite happy there, and i prefer the bar there for the first apres ski drink, a little bit more refined than tha rila (ie less germans/turks). You may have got the idea that booking the pass and lessons before you go out is a good idea, try to get booked with the 'Samakov Ski School' firstly its downstairs secondly its better than 'Borosport/Rila' thhirdly the end of week 'presentation' ie rather large P*** up is held in the Samakov Night ...

thanks everyone - will definitely follow the advice given. We 've booked with inghams and they only charge £4 per booking to add lift passes etc on. Can't wait to go - sounds like there is plenty to do at night which will suit the five of us going. Only hope i manage to overcome the inevitable hangover every morningre: renting equipment etc
Hi,Trust me, the cold mountian air, fun of sking (and falling off!) and hot chocolate Brandy at lunch, will cure all hangovers.
