Just back from Borovets.I will not be returning we stayed at the samakov and no way is it a 4 star hotel.My family and I usually ski in Swizerland or USA, but this year we thought we would give a different resort a try.I deeply regret it now- the hotel was no way like a 4 star and without meaning to sound arrogant-the hotel was full of " factory types".
I guess it was cheap- hence the quality.
It may be a good resort and hotel for some people but just not for my family and I.

i have to say that i have just returned from my first time in borovets and thought it was fantastic. I went thinking i would hate it after reading some comments on this board but it was a great holiday. Our hotel was not great but after a hard days skiing i would have happily slept in a dog kennel! I will definately recommend this resort to anyone as its great value for money.re: report

lets face it, people who have skiied in Switzerland/USA seem not to like Bulgaria. If they prefer it there and are willing to spend the money, I see no problem. It appears that Bulgaria is better for families with children, as it becomes prohibitive to take 4 to a resort and to eat in a restaurant every evening, unless you are rich. In Bulgaria you can do this, (still). So lets not argue, people with lots of money, and who have skiied a lot, especially those who like USA, please don't expect ...
