my friend and i left it rather late to book this year , all the top opperators had nothing for the dates we wanted ,we looked at this site and emailed the Rila and the Samakov hotels , no reply from the Samakov

After swaping room for one with a better view , we settled in.
rooms in the Rila are fine , clean , about ave size , ours was a little cold i guess as we were the last room along the corridoor, but otherwise fine, bathroom was clean , plenty of loo rolls , stacks of hot water , and clean towells every day.
food next , the rila food is not bad but mostly teped to cold,Tip, fill your plate and use the microwave to reheat it if you like your food hot , otherwise eat out ,the eating area was fine , a little busy at times , but ok.
The Rila bar was next on the agenda , this is quite large with waitress service, large comfy chairs and good atmosphire, there were plenty of families enjoying the atmos aswell.
Next day , we were sent to the gondola ski depot and supplied with skis and poles , the skis were very old and badly worn , with poor edges, we had to have them serviced ,bit cheeky expecting us to pay as they should be in 1st class condition , but what the helll was only 5 lev.but be warned i had to ski with 190's as nothing else left, so get there early.
Skiing conditions were great , lots of snow , fresh from the night before, the new 4 man chair is open where the old 1 man used to be and theres a new 4 man where the t bar used to be , slopes were not to busy either.
over the week we visited various bars and resturants , jimmys at the bottom of the hill was good for chocy brandys, good food in momma mias steakhouse, white magin and peters bar are good for a drink and the venice bar just opposite the rila allways had live music, also the dublin bar inside the rila was worth a visit.
overall got the impression borovets is a good place for a skiing holiday ,Tip, try not to consider a 4 star hotel like and english 4 star hotel. get to the ski depot early to get good skis, and go visit vicky in the happy duck , shes a nutter

Hi KelThanks for all the good info. 4 of us are off on the 26th, staying at the Olymp. Is there just one place for ski hire. What tiem do you recommend getting to the place for.
