has anyone stayed at the rila hotel in borovets? i'm off on the 6th march and just want to know what to expect before i go! what are the rooms like etc...cheers

Staying every year in the Rila Hotel!Its a big hotel with nice rooms and has a nice lounge to meet people!
On the first floor and at the swimmingpool are the diningrooms. The food is almost the same. but its good to eat. (better try a restaurant).

We stayed at the Rila Studios (within the main hotel) jan 2004.
Family of four with two 10 year old lads.
All had a great time.
Food was OK, plenty of it, buffet stle with 4-5 choices at each meal.
breakfast had a choice of breads/toast/cakes etc, cereals, fry-up, fruit.
Evening meal, tended to be salad/meats/cheeses, soup, 4-5 main courses plus chips/veg, cakes/pastries plus fruit.
Hotel is best placed in resort, right at the bottom of the main slope.
Rooms are ok, ...

Rooms are ok, clean/tidy etc. Don't expect to cook in your room though if you are in the studios, they only give you a pan, 4 cups and some glasses, not even a teaspoon. I would recommend you take a travel kettle if you like a cup of tea first thing.
Otherwise it's fine.
Oh, if you go to the pool watch your step we saw 3-4 people slip over badly in about 15-20 mins, as the floor is slippy.

Don't expect luxury but it is very comfortable the roooms are large, plenty of hot water in bathrooms, beds and towels changed every day. Keep your valuables in a safe at reception unfortunately the resort has a few light fingered people so better safe than sorry.
Pool is ok but don't run round it very slippy. Food not to my taste but got by with breakfast and on the odd occasion we ate at night salad and chips.
The downstairs bar is a great meeting place and you will soon be making ...
