Depends on what you want, firstly the differance between the hotels is something like the Rilas a bit brash the Samakov a bit staid. The Samakov has invested in improving the rooms, (i stayed there last week) but not all of them have been done. The Samakov is a lot quieter, personally i prefer it. The Samakov ski school is without doubt the better of the two, however if you are learners the Rila is right next to the nursery slopes, where as the Samkov is much better positioned for the Gondola, this is important due to one of the main failings in Borovets being the inability to keep the street between the two hotels free of ice, and this is a problem, someone breaks something every week trying to negotiate this , especialy wearing ski boots, its a nightmare. So you pays your money and you takes your chance!!! hope this helps
