ski boot charges

I am flying Wizz Air 31st jan. Luton

What are check staff like for ski boots in a boot bag? do they let you carry on as hand luggage, or are they charging extra for weight?
Anyone with experience i would be grateful to know.

We always pack our boots to go our main luggage in the hold. I have heard that most airlines wont let you take them on board as hand luggage because they have the potential to be a lethal weapon!

There is so much inconsistency between airlines, TOs, security, as to whether boots as carry on is acceptable it's best you contact the airport, TO and airline you are using for the trip in question.

You can only wear them on the plane. they are not allowed in your luggage. You will lose them otherwise.

You cannot be serious about wearing ski boots on a plane Confused I cannot see that being allowed in a month of Sundays.

Imagine if there were an emegency and everyone was trying to vacate the plane - and there's you in ski boots.

Get real Confused

Right I have flown from Luton with Wizz and will be doing so again. I have taken my boots on as hand luggage with them and Easyjet no problem. These budget airlines normally allow quite a bit of weight as carry on luggage so you should be fine.

Remeber though it is still only 1 bag allowed as carry on.They would not let me go through security with my video camera over my shoulder and a boot bag. I had to put the camera in the boot bag walk through security and then when I got the other ...

It seems to depend who you fly with. Balkan, Thomson/Crystal and Jet2 won't have boots as hand luggage - you have to check them in with the rest of your hold baggage, and they count as part of your weight allowance.
We pack ours in bootbags inside big holdalls, then pack stuff in and around them - if you put them separate, it's just another item to wait for at the other end
