re: ski boots
Hi Ryan,
Alot was written on this subject last year -- do a search and you should find alot of comments..
IN MY OPINION -- You should buy boots over here before you go. Find a reputable dealer with a large stock and a wide range of makes (are you near a snowdome) ?
Take a good pair of socks or tubes with you and be prepared to spend atleast 2 to 3 hours in the shop (if you can avoid weekends this would be a good idea).

Remember, be honest about your ability and be open minded about the boots - just because one pair looks nice doesnt mean its the best for your foot shape.
If you are not going until March i would guess some of the sales would have started by then, so you could pick up a bargain.
My first pair of boots lasted me 15 years of skiing atleast two weeks a year, so i consider that they paid for themselves many times over.
Now -- Should i buy my own skis ? That's a whole different matter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manchester chill factore is not too far away and i will defo take some time in selecting the right pair for me but what i suppose the question really is will i save much money if i buy them in bulgaria? everything else is cheaper so was wondering if the equipment is?
would like to buy my own ski's but wouldn't know where to start!
I'll probably get them in a couple of years once im a better skier!!!
From memory, last time we were in Boro 2 years ago, things weren't that much cheaper. Plus, it's a false economy of they are uncomfortable because they're not fitted right. You won't get the same service when it comes to chosing the right pair in BG as you would in the UK.
For info, we were in Chill Factore on Sunday, most stores are still getting rid of last season's stock, and are getting ready with new stock, you might get lucky with something on sale, but if you're not going ...

We bought boots a few years ago at this time and got them reduced. Ellis Brigham in Manchester also getting their new season stock ready - gets you all excited about skiing again when you see it!
gonna go to chill factore next week so will have a try and also have a ellis brigham local too so will try there... dont want to leave it till last minute would like to get them worn in before i go on my next holiday so hopefully will catch something in the sales...
good choice! skiing is just some how better when you own your own boots. I got my first pair of fitted boots last year and it made all the difference. Hope you get it sorted.
Someone more experienced in skiing than me a few years ago said the best thing you can do is get your own boots, also that you would probably not notice the difference between hire and your won skis for some time, so that's next on the list for me.
Chris - I agree, with your own boots that you can fine tune the fitting on, it's far better than hire gear.
Ryan - I wore mine in a bit round the house in my PJ's every night.....!!
iv got a pair of boots you can have ryan,im 90 years old now son i wont be needing them any more as i have lost my bottle to go skiing, due to an accident i seen whilst on a ski trip on the moon,it was dreadfull any way son you have got my number just give me a call and i will fax the boots over to you,by 4 now MR XX.
