Just a small point, im not going to cover the speed guns, the sobriety tests, or photos for passes, but CLOTHING. Ive noticed the number of posts increasing about renting/buying, and i think, honestly, that a lot of beginers really think you need to wrap up for artic conditions. rule 1 layers, rule 2 make sure youre jacket gloves and trousers etc are water resistant, get a good hat and probably most importantly good googles/glasses. Ive been skiing once or twice and my jacket came from a clarks store and i got a pair of boarding pants from m&s ( i ski not board) my gloves were in the sale at next £6 ( what a bargain !!!) got a daft hat in resort last year, and i prefer goggles, but thats probably due to the fact that i dont find glasses so good at speed. all in all ive spent less than £50, i will be taking some thin polos and a fleece as layers in case it gets a little cold, but last year we were wearing no jacket just a polo and a fleece. This is not a swanky swiss resort and not a fashion parade, the whole point about bulgaria is its laid back charm and affordability, so chill out and dont go overboard!!!!!! I know some people will have differant ideas but im all for doing it on the cheap hip hip horray!!!!!

I hope I dont feel over dressed with all my new burton gear in the unfashionable borovets, only jokin' lookin forward to it now so much so it's kinda taken the forefront to christmas, and I love chrimble, ho ho ho.

Took some really old gear with me last year to pamps, which was fine. Bought a really nice jacket / salopettes over there for about £100 - just hope I can fit in them this year!!!!

Have just bought my daughter really nice outfit from Tchibo, about £50! Steve got some new gear from TK Maxx. Best buy of all his jacket (not official ski wear but brilliant last year) from Foxhole, about £20!!!!!!! Personally, I wouldn't do without a scarf of some description and of course the ESSENTIAL hip flask - mine has Baileys his has Brandy!

As stated by Fraser n Sarah, you really don't need to spend loads.

ALSO - Ebay great, esp for kids stuff as it has usually only been worn once or twice before they outgrow it.

We have always used a combination of Aldi and Tchibo - both excellent value and good quality. Just looked at Tchibo website for something else and see that they still have childrens trousers and jackets for under £30! Excellent value and at those prices you don't really care if they wreck them when they get home!! They also had some ladies bits and bobs.

I bought a Helly Hansen boarding jacket from Bicester Village the other year and I find it too thin and have too put on a thick fleece underneath. That is ok in resort but at home here in sunny Bicester it is a pain and messes up the hair!

We have also all got thermal walking boots, again from Aldi, which for the price are excellent value and keep both Rosie and my tootsies warm whilst cheering on the sidelines of both football and rugby!

As I've said before and reinforce Frasers words LAYERS. I'm a cold old bird and wear about 3 layers on the bottom half and 6 on the top! Strip off as the day goes on if necessary and adapt according to the conditions each morning. Nobody ever recognises me in the bar in the evening as I look about 3 stone lighter!
