just wanted to ask what is the best thing to do regarding ski hire, lift passes etc, we have booked allocation on arrival to bansko on march 18th, is it ok to book equipment on line then pick it up when we arrive or shall we wait until we get there as we don't know where we will be staying? are there quite a few places to pick it up from or is there only a couple of shops that do the hire and passes? first time skiing so not sure of the procedure! have seen the beginners ski package for ...

re: ski hire

I would def. get them on line, can you get the ski school package with the company you are going with? even if you do not use ski school, just purchase the beginner one its cheaper that way you get the equipment and the pass - it will be dearer in the resort

Hi, as per the last reply you will nake greater savings with booking in advance with balkan. you can check the prices at the bansko web site I reckon you will save at least a few hundred pounds if theres a few of you.

All of the gear is collected on your first day from the Ulan shop right in the gondola building bit of a scrum but the staff are great, try to get friendly with one of them and you will get treated even better over the week, then just give them a few lev tip. Its all pretty ...

re: ski hire

You may have to ring Balkan or if you booked with a holiday company get them to sort it for you. not sure if you can just purchase it from the net once you have booked the holiday.

do not tell Balkan you do not intend using ski school - and just go for the beginner package its about £90 - unless you want lessons and are not a beginner then go for the other package at £115.
