re: ski in czech rep

I think Czech and Slovak split up in the velvet revolution. Slovak is the poorer/rural end of the country and wanted separate government to reflect their lifestyle and culture. And that, alas, is about the extent of my knowledge.

Would be interested in any skiing answers though. Very Happy

Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Slovenia. Three countries. Slovenia is apparently small but cute, the other two don't bother with.

Hi,

I too am insterested in Skiing Cz Rep, I understand some of the best skiing is around 50km North of Prague near the German Border, also the High Tatras on the Cz/Slovac border are meant to be good. There is no very high altitude sking to be had but being further north than Bulgaria it will be colder and have good snow, I've been to Prague in January and it was under a foot of snow and -15 degrees C. I believe lifts and pistes are meant to be fairly good in some resorts. this link may help: http://www.holidayinfo.cz/main.php
Will of course need to change language to UK.

Good luck let us know how you get on.

Yumma

I will try skiing North of Prague next January hopefully.

re: ski in czech rep

Spoke to someone who has skied twice in Czech. Said it was good for learning to ski and very friendly. They now need more than they have in Czech.

Hope that helps. Very Happy
