Just back from Borovets and I was in a similar prediciment but for snowboarding. Avoid touts!!! There are people that will try and 'help' you get 'cheap lessons' this is RUBBISH! Luckily I had been forewarned about the price I should be paying and ignored the 100lev per hour quote!! Basic rule, they all have pricings in English if they won't show you decline and walk away. I managed to get lessons for 68Lev (£23 approx) for 2 hours from the school based in the Flora hotel and the guy I had ...

I managed to get lessons for 68Lev (£23 approx) for 2 hours from the school based in the Flora hotel and the guy I had as an instructir was called 'Freaky' , yep that is his name!! was great. He can be found in Frankos bar opposite the Rila or easily spotted with an orange jacket, long goatee and piercings on nursey slopes......highly recommended!
If you are going to Borovets, I would suggest you go to the "White Magic" bar and speak to Christo. He is an ex-olympic skier and a hell of a good laugh and nice chap to go with it.
There are loads of other though, and quite reasonably priced
I got 2 seperate 2 hour boarding lessons from the lads at the snowshack in pamps last january for 45 levs each (that's about £17)and they gave me so much confidence it made the holiday perfect for me.
I went on my own - been dry slope boarding a few times but never on snow - they really improved me.
