ski instructors

Hi there,

Does anyone know if the ski instructors at the resort are actually paid by the ski schools? My instructor said that he was n't paid and relied on the tips for a wage. If this is true I would be curious to find out what we pay our money for ski lessons for.

re: ski instructors

Well I know that the instructors don't get paid a lot about £200 a month last time we were there 2 years agoa and the work is of course seasonal. In Borovets they don't pay for their lunch either - their commission I suppose for taking their group to the restaurant in the first place.

Not quite sure how giving someone your lift passes helps really as they are only valid for the duration of your stay -otherwise we would all be passing our passes on like car parking tickets here!

We did ...

We did tip but that is a personal choice based on how you feel.

Hope this helps

My ski instructor said he was paid about £200 a month also had free lunch everyday for taking us to the resturant.. we gave him a £50 tip between six of us,have to say was worth every penny was a ace instructor!!! giving your lift passes to him, would gain him the deposits on them around six lev in pamps better than a kick in the teeth i think...

re: ski instructors

Ellie - Kerrie didnt say which resort but I think pamps take a 6 lev deposit as their passes arent disposable. So this equates to a 6 lev tip and means you dont get the inconvenience of having to return them yourselves, what a good idea Exclamation

re: ski instructors

the lift passes are six levs in pamps ellie and there was about 11 of us so that would add up to £66 so it is a good idea! Razz

re: ski instructors

The ski instructors are not paid that badly, you need to understand their economy. Most have another job for remainder of the year and all have free lunch, drinks etc as commision for taking their students into the bars/restaurants.
