The Ski road is a 6km blue run which takes you down from the main gondola exit which is about 1500mtrs up the mountain down to the gondola station in Bansko itself which is about 930mtrs high. I returned from Bansko on the 10th and skied the ski road home each night. Yes there was none or very little snow in Bansko itself whilst were there, but the snow cannons keep the bottom section of the run nicely topped up - so dont panic !!

Snow making machines have been running on the ski road - and other selected areas of the resort - when the temps are low enough... sadly, it's very mild here at the mo, so I'm not sure they are currently within their operating range.

Does anyone know if it can be done on a snowboard or will it be too flat???

Its a mix of skiers and snowboarders go down the road. Its a blue slop so plenty of places to pick up speed.

The last bit is a pain in the arms as you're basically flat. For boarders there is a fair stroll. TBH, I don't bother unless there is good hard ice so I can keep the speed up

re: ski road bansko

You can do it on a board as long as your a reasonable rider and can keep your speed up. No speed checking! The last bit is very flat. Took me 13mins to ride back on it.
