ski school Borovets

Hi all
Booked Iglika Palace, Borovets for next year- kids booked into ski school, all booked with Balkan- i am asuming they will be alocated to the Rila ski school./hire etc, and if so can you hire "extra" helmets for them, as these do not appear to be included in the price for hire goods (whereas they were with the Samokov ski school).
They will definatley be wearing them, just wondering how much they are to hire, and where from etc
Thanks in advance

Hi Ian,
I think you would be better off buying at home. Aldi do good helmets. If you hire you do not know how much of a battering the hire helmets have had. I'm sure you will get more advice off the board.

S.P.
Hang in there. Booze

Hi Ian,

Hope the back's getting better!!

Your children will be provided with helmets and there should be no additional cost, saying that, I would go with SP and buy them their own. I wouldn't normally recommend buying equipment for children as they grow out of it, but when it comes to helmets I would definitely suggest you do and shop around to get a helmet that fits. 2 seasons ago Bobby and I bought ours out here in Boro and we both tried on about 20 before we bought them. I can't remember the cost - I think it was about 40gbp for a Scott one, but not sure. Bobby is in Borovets today, so will ask him when he comes home.

Also, if the children do grow out of them (no idea of ages) then you can always sell them on this forum / via ebay etc.

Look forward to seeing you soon!

re: ski school Borovets

Hi Ian,

Spoke to Bobby and he said that they can vary out here from 40lev to 200lev...it really depends on the make / fit. He said that at the beginning and end of the season, there are usually some good deals to be had, but it really depends on what helmets fit the children best. Sorry...I know that answer's about as long as a piece of string...!!

re: ski school Borovets

Hey, hey, hey Razz

On a more serious note..... i bough my helmet last year from Boro. End of the season tho, got a decent one, 1/2 price.

Took our kids to Italy this year, helmets provided. (Unfortunately didn't stop my daughter breaking her leg). They were ok, but if i can get my kids to go skiing again would def get an average helmet here, then hopefully it'll last a couple of years, but at least you know where its been.

re: ski school Borovets

It was a couple of year ago when we stayed at the Samokov and the kids used their ski school and they had helmets, that were in good condition, the year later staying at the Flora they were in the Rila ski school, and they did not supply helmets- i believe they are necessary, so will buy before we come over if they are not cheaper over there. Ski Warehouse has some decent deals on them at the momment so may purchase them there when we go to get the kids new gear for january.
