Going to borovets in feb with friends and their kids ranging from 6 to 12 years old. Could only book ski lessons etc for kids from age 8 upwards but not for the 6 year old with tour rep first choice. We are going to have to book the 6 year old lessons etc when we get there but will he be able to go in to the lessons with the older kids who are at the same standard? If anyone can give me any advice or if they had the same problem I would appreciate it. Ta

Your 6 year old will probably be able to ski in ski school but the tour operators will not pre book for you as the schools stipulate a minimum of age 7. Six year olds are encouraged to use the Kindergartens, if they are confident and with a group of other children they have the opportunity to go to ski school once there. The main reason you don't need to pre book kindergarten is that the children don't need lift passes. If you wait until you get there then you will have to pay full price ...

This site will only let you pre-book ski packages if you have booked accommodation with them.
We are travelling independantly and have made some investigations of our own and have managed to pre book a good package through the Albena ski school. They will let our 6 year old ski with them. The holiday companies generally use Borosport (who own the slopes, lifts and the Rila as well as many other assets in resort) so if you used Albena it would mean the 6 year old skied seperately from your group - which may not be ideal. Another family on this site have been in the same situation and went out yesterday and had booked their daughter into the Albena school - we will hear next week how they got on.
I hope this is helpful - if you want to know more then please ask.
Many thanks for your help, Could you let me know where on the discussion board the other families comments were so I can look them up. It sounds like alot of money to have to pay for a child to ski in the resort for one week when its not costing that much more for 2 adults and a 9 year old. We have booked with first choice to stay in the rila so I dont know if we are booked in with albena ski school or not. If we are then maybe I could arrange with them direct, before we go.
