Hello everyone

My hubbie and eldest son have just set off to Manchester airport for a weeks skiing in Boro. There are 11 of them altogether, Dads and sons. My youngest son and I are going to have quite a peaceful week, although I thinks a few drinks will be consumed to pass the time away. I am really jealous and cannot wait to go myself.

So anyone staying at the Rila Hotel who bumps in to Albert and Daniel say hello. That should confuse them no end!!!

Our eldest Alister is 8 and his sisiter Rosie is 7 in March. We skiied for the first time last February. They loved it and cant wait to go back on this half term. We unfortunately have to go during school hoidays as Iwork in a school.

Elliott would love it I'm sure. I hope you have a good week and manage to find some special things to do whilst the others are away.

re: ski widow

Thanks Ellie

We have all been for skiing lessons and Elliott has picked it up very well. I was travelling shakely down the slope and saw Elliott going up the drag lift - past the 1st stop, past the 2nd (where we had been coming off) past the 3rd, (by this time I was thinking words to the effect of WHERE IS HE GOING?? ) he got off at the 4th
skied onto the slope turned and came down - no problem. Wish I could ski so easily and look so good! Ah well, as they say 'practice makes perfect'. ...

No, we have only been to Borovets. We really enjoyed the experience and in particular the friendliness and willingness of the people to go out of their way to make our holiday special. We felt the whole package was great value for money. The cost of everything meant we could afford to eat out each night which made it a holiday for us all - we usually self-cater, camp etc!!

We don't of course have anything to compare it with. We have decided to go back again this year mainly as I felt a bit like you - not quite mastered the technique of stopping. The kids did far better than me!!

We are travelling independantly this year and as we have to go in school holidays we have saved a great deal of money - which has made it all affordable.

I will let you know how we get on once we get back.

re: ski widow

Hi Ellie
Thanks for your message. I have been looking at prices for next Feb 1/2 term. Inghams studio for 4 £2,132 but Thomsons only £1849 as they do a free child place, which I thoughwas quite good. But Inghams 5-12th Jan only £1188 for same thing, so big difference due to school hols. Not fair really, but unfortunately what can we do?

From reading the postings on this site, we got a good feeling about the place ie. friendly people, good food - one big party actually. Our feelings are - maybe if we went to France, Switzerland etc your pay 2-3 times as much to get there plus food drink 2-3 times more expensive, will it be full of pretentious people who would look down their noses at the likes of us amatures - if you know what I mean. Dont mean to be disrespectful, but there is nothing worse than going on holiday anywhere and nobody wants to talk to you. Thats part of the holiday - meeting people and having a laugh and of course a few Booze Booze Booze Booze Razz Razz Dont you agree?

Havnt hear from my hubbie or son today - really their first day, say waiting to see what they have to say. When I do, Ill let you know what they think.

Speak soon
