ski/board weight allowance with first choice

Has anyone had any problems checking in ski carriage at Birmingham airport using first choice as it says maximum 6 kg on the ticket info

Yes on flight Brum to Innsbruck last Jan, the check in staff meant around 6 kilo, we have small board bags and only pack board, boots, helmet in the bag, got away with 7 kilo, but big wheeled board bags crammed full of gear were being asked to repack and pay extra, ski bags with 2 or 3 sets of skis were also having hassle. Confused

First choice charter, but things seem to change daily, we just flew BA scheduled out of Gatwick no problems and watching people in First choice queue with massive ski/board bags they too had no trouble going to Turin.

re: ski/board weight allowance with first choice

Can't he just pack the board and boots in his ski bag then put clothes in another check in bag of 20 kilo?
