skilift Vitosha

anyone can let me know when the skilift in Vitosha is open in december 2008 ? I wanna combine Sofia with a few days of ski beginning december this year...please email me to [email protected].Also wanna know if I can get there easily with public transport from the centre of Sofia .

Gondola from outskirts of sofia works more or less regulat from just before the students day-8Dec.
Buses from sofia if you want cheaper travel to and from.
Not from center of sofia but easily reached with Trams,trolleybusses and busses.
Usually less groomed at the beginning of the season because the slopes are with huge stones which need to be covered by snow and wind.
Usually weather very nasty so get prepared.
avoid 8Dec and around -a lot of drunk ...

Ski Hire available in Chalet Aleko(at least last year)and the gondola top station-few places.
The lift system though is very old and rusty with missing foodbars ot the chairs and curved in different direction bars etc so BE VERY CAREFUL when looking back to take the chair,romaski lift -double chair-does not slow down when you pick it up so keep the back of your kneesand help with arm.
The drags are more or less ok.
Very easy to get lost above Aleko and the markings are few and far between.

If there is snow on all levels it is easy just ski down Boulevard Cherni Vruh from hotelSheraton -Japanese to Hemus Hotel
