skis and boots

I am going to pamporovo in a couple of weeks or so and wondered what the quality of boots and skis are like. Also Do you have to be up at the crack of dawn to get the better ones or is it better to miss the rush and go a little later.

re: skis and boots

Its really pot luck with what you get. I was out with my family last year and had no problems with what we were issued with. We were given a ticket and kept the same boots and skis all week. Have a good walk around in your boots and if in doubt just change them until you are happy with them.

re: skis and boots

All skis were renewed 2 years ago - all carvers.
Boots are also good quality - much better than when I used to hire.

re: skis and boots

we were told last year in pamps that they were new that season. But you could still end up with pretty yucky ones depending on the last inhabitant if you're lucky like me!! Oh my skin still crawls at the smell on day 1. Trying to buy a pair over there on Sat when i get there. Any more advice on that note PP??

I still think that hiring is a lottery considering its your body which us at risk . I've cleaned up on a certain auction site buying brand new quality salomon gear at a fraction of snow and rocks prices. You can also find very large on line retailers on there too some not in uk . That said you can still hire but also consider buying using your new purchase and then sell em when you get back chances are the difference will be not far from hiring anyway !!!

re: skis and boots

I think you are making the right decision - and yes, get them as soon as you arrive. Most of the guys in the shops between the Murgavets and Perelik are decent guys and helpful. Some of the Blizzard Skis are good value - but still try and haggle.

I love my skis and so glad I bought my own.

re: skis and boots

Been a while since I was with anybody that bought - but I would guess at approx. 600 levs for both (close on £230)
But that is just an educated guess Confused

re: skis and boots

I bought mine 2 years ago as I'd tried hire boots and never found any that felt ok. I think it was money well spent. I wore them around the house for a while before skiing in them and they are really comfy. I still hire skis though.
