To all those on the board who are getting worried about the snow conditions (or lack of them)...
2 years ago we were going for our very first skiing holiday and the conditions at this time were pretty much the same. I don't think there were many people that didn't get to do some skiing as the conditions did improve. It wasn't ideal, we were skiing on an average 6cm in Pamps around middle jan and I know the other resorts didn't have much more.

The point is, there was still skiing to be done although very limited and sometimes quite icy. Most people had a great holiday (as did we) and there are plenty things to do if the conditions don't improve much.
I am sure that all resorts will get enough snow to ski on this season although when I do not know. Bansko and Borovets are forecast for a few cms this weekend but for pamps it still looks bleak. We are relying on the temps staying low and then the snow cannons can be used to get things started.
What a nice positive post Rach. I second what you say and also - folks - remember - ski conditions can change in hours let alone days. It is still EARLY days yet - yeah alot of Europe has had dumps of snow and someone said to me that if we have mega cold weather here then the Balkans get less - not sure if that true or not BUT it a good couple of weeks before Xmas ski hols etc and I am sure it will come good. Don't panic folks (but of course do a little snow dance just in case!).
Rules and regs. for a snow dance - as told to me by Maria, the Inghams Rep in Pamporovo.
You get well and truly p....d, go out to the forest, take off all your clothes and dance around naked. This should be repeated the next night if no snow appears but ..... only problem is you can't remember which forest as you were too p....d
We were in the same boat, went for Christmas 2006 for our first time, even at the lower slopes you could ski (and I don't just mean beginners) - and we too had panicked a bit before we left as it seemed to be a disaster with no snow. But the snow gods looked down on us and dropped a load of the white stuff just before Christmas which saw us through.
Just look at the weather forecasts this week - we're in Greater Manchester, got told we'd have bucketloads of the stuff on Thursday and we ...

RAIN!!
Other places got the snow who didn't necessarily expect it - it changed that quickly.
So lets just keep our eyes on the skies for the hell of it, and trust when we got there, we'll be in the thick of it. Juts make sure you keep some for me in February!!
Good fred, give me hope makes a change from other people on this forum saying you should of done your research when i have already booked and paid to go on the 20th.Now what i mean.
Bulgaria doesnt usually get a good dumping of snow before the 15th and when it comes it comes, we arrive on the 27th and will be skiing on the snow that all you people who arrive on te 20th will have skied on for the week, the temps are going to fall over the next two weeks with a few ups and downs, and dont be surprised if some of the white stuff falls tonight and over the next few days.
But it will come, remember you are going to the mountains where people go to ski, ...
Dont Panic

But it will come, remember you are going to the mountains where people go to ski, BECAUSE it snows alot.
I'll echo all these comments. We first went to Pamps almost two years ago, my wife's first ever ski trip. The sno wasn't brilliant, icy in the shady areas, and the lower parts of the runs were closed. Nonetheless we had a great holiday, she is now sold on ski-ing. We returned last winter to wonderful snow, TV tower to ski shack runs well covered.
