snow cover in Jan Bansko

I have the oportunity to go skiing between 30th Dec- 5th Jan but i am concerned there will be no snow. Plan to go to Bansko. I Have heard mixed reports and although nothing is ever guarenteed if anyone can reassure me there will be a prospect of good skiing then I would appreciate it. Do they have snow making machines like in Canada if things are poor naturally?? Question Confused

re: snow cover in Jan Bansko

Rebecca, there was snow in Bansko at that time last year and it has the best snow record in Bulgaria. Check out the following archive web cam image for 1 Jan 2006:

Bansko also has plenty of fixed and mobile snow canons.

Just make sure that you try and book a table to eat on New Years Eve in advance as the locals and Sofians will also be out celebrating and it gets fillde very fast.

Rebecca.

Been to Bansko and Borovets the last two years, once in Feb and once in Jan, always had plenty of snow.

As the holiday appraoching I check the snow daily just to get me excited and there has always been good snow in december onwards. As I`m off to Bansko on the 23rd December this year I hope there is snow too.

re: snow cover in Jan Bansko

Yes they do make snow in Bansko and are very good at it but it's dependent on the temp. Even if the snow is not at it's best, you should still be able to ski or board at thats what matters.
