summer annex

Hey,
every year we (6 of us) go surfing to the sounth of France. This year we fancied a change - for the colder! We're looking to stay 10 days in Bulgaria snowboarding/drinking/chilling out Booze. As we're a bunch of pesky students we don't want to pay an arm 'n' leg for accomodation - self catering or half board will be fine. Does anyone have any suggestions - tips for us?
When is the best time to go?
Nightlife?
Beer prices?
Food?
Temperature?

thanks for your time.

I've been to Pamporovo twice (snowboarding) and could only find about 3 useful bars at night. From reading this website, Borovets sounds far more lively. Beer is about £1 a bottle in Pamporovo BJ's bar and Daks. Food in the half board hotels is ok - fair choice but not going to feature on any TV chef shows. Again, Borovets sounds like it has lots of reasonably priced restaurants to break it up a bit. Temperature when I've been has been -6 to -10 ish. Ok with thermals, long sleeve T shirt, ...

re: summer annex

Prices seem similar in the different resorts but the nightlife seems so much better in Borovets. there are loads of bars to choose from that go onto the early hours including Titanic, Buzz bar - we found these two fantastic. Try to budget for 4* accommodation though. We went 3* last year and regretted it. Half board really suits skiing but the food is cheep enough if you do decide to go sc.
Have a great time wherever you go
