Hi we're thinking of coming to Pamporovo self catering in February. Although we'll eat out, I wondered whether theres a supermarket there where I can buy bits of snacks/things for lunch and perhaps a bottle of wine or 3. If so, what's it like, will I be able to understand what things are, and what are prices like compared to UK.
thanks Pete. But I have to say you are a typical man. Women need to know facts, details, snippety information! (by the way, read another thread WHY are you going to wear a thong?!) like do they sell Englishy products, can the kids get choc chip biccies, white sliced loaves, ham, proper milk etc etc. Went to Pamporovo onceabout 15 years ago. Has it changed much?!
It's to raise money for the Orphanage of Stoikite. They have no heating there and no money to replaced the broken one. Kids are freezing so I am asking people to sponsor me by skiing down the mountain in just a thong. We have raised over £1,300 so far - but we need 30,000 Euros. Any help would so very welcomed.
Tracey> you will have no problem in the shop at all. They have a good range of produce that you'll recognise, the staff are really helpful and you can change money there too. It's sort of opposite the entrance to the mourgavets (a bit). Very simple. Don't worry
Tracey the supermarket sells all sorts. Look at the fat content on the milk that will tell you what kind it is.
They sell sliced bread, cheese (not cheddar but edible) ham, butter, frozen meat, tinned stuff, crisps, chocolate, toiletries, fruit juice, fruit and veg they also had a new deli counter last year. I am not too keen on the eggs in a freezer bag though - usually ended up as an an omlette.
Tracey
The supermarket is pretty good - covers off all the basics you will need. Having said that if you get a chance to go to Smolyan or Chepelare you will get the same stuff for a lot less!
