A TOTAL OF EUR 400 million will be needed for implementation of the project for development of Bulgaria's Borovets resort, called "Super Borovets", Sofia region governor, Olimpi Katev, said during Bulgarian-Italian seminar on development of the winter tourism.
Italian businesses have shown interest in participating in the project realisation, Italy's Ambassador to Bulgaria, Gian Battista Campagnola said. Representatives of the 20 Italian companies that took part in the seminar will prepare offers and will start negotiations over future investments and co-operation, Campagnola added. The increasing of the hotel capacity in Borovets, Rila mountain, will create additional 10,000 beds. The project includes also construction of new ski racing tracks, lifts, winter stadium, aquapark, car parks, restaurants, a golf ground and an ethnographic complex.
Conception for the Borovets resort development will be ready by the end of October and will be presented to the council of ministers, Katev said.
According to the minister of youth and sports, Super Borovets, Bansko modernisation, Pamporovo development as well as the enlargement of the Sofia airport make Bulgaria a serious candidate for the Winter Olympic Games in 2014. /PARI/

All sounds very good for Bulgaria and tourism income will obviously increase but will it spoil what we have all enjoyed up until know

My thoughts too Ellie, don't fix what isn't broken. Ok it's not Chamonix or Val Thorens but neither is the snow record or the prices!
