You can even catch buses, from Thessaloniki to Sofia , via Blagoevgrad and Sandanski. We have to do so this year back to Thessaloniki, on the way to Bulgaria we catched the last train, later we have to take the bus.

It looks that 3 to 4 buses going every day from Thessaloniki to Sofia, a a trip costs between 40 and 55 lev
