last year we took US dollars, as advised, and we found lots of places to change them and some shops/cafes take them too. Rates in shops(& hotels vary) not generally as good as exchanges, but not bad enough to go out into the cold! we actually found we did slightly better changing our sterling at home to US$ then into Levs rather than direct from £ to Lev! NB do make sure your notes are not damaged/ripped as they may not be accepted and try to get smaller notes ie10, 20,50 not 100+. Also not ...

Also not everybody on street corners is trying to rip you off, some times locals are given tips in £ or $ that they can not get changed (coin or ripped notes) but would not recommed swapping anything above a few quid!
