Hi,
can anyone who has been recently let me know what to take please.
My wife, 9 yr old daughter and I are goig to stay at the Rila in Borovets, for a week from 24 Jan.
What currency do we take?
Can we use Visa cards in the town?
Is there an ATM to get cash out?
If we take travellers chqs, should they be dollars, euros or sterling?
Many thanks or your help.
Any other particular advice would also be wecome. We are looking forward to the skiing and our daughter is ...

Been trawling this site for several weeks, generally people seem to take sterling...you get a better exchange rate for cash. You get charged commission on c/c's and travellers cheques. Credit cards are not widely accepted in shops ect. Money best changed in hotels or banks, street dealers often offer a better exhange rate but can rip the unwary off with illegal notes.
We're off tommow morning, the boys, that's my 15 yr old, 17 yr old and 50 yr old are bouncing off the walls ...

Am also going in 8 days time to Rila. Went last year too and had a great time.
We found it best to take either sterling or Levs. Commission on travellers cheques is too high so we aren't bthering with them this year but if you do, I think sterling is the best.. Only change them at the hotel or banks.
Some place take credit cards but on the whole they don't like them.
My daughter learnt last year too and had a great time. Her only critisism of the ski school was the ...

They are alll nice people, so just enjoy yourselves and the reps and instructors will help you out with anything else you may need to know.

Hi DaveI asked the same question yesterday. People said that there was the cash mashine at the Gondola lift building and it accepted Visa cards and even gave back money
But nobody know about %fees for cashing in this ATM.
