Went to Boro for first time this Feb. and we stayed at the Samokov. The hotel is great. Do not expect a western 4* though. The rooms are a good size and have T.V. ( mostly non-English ) Now the food - breakfast is brilliant - go to the top right hand side and get a freshly made omelette, sets you up for the day.The rest is buffet style with many choices , sausage, toast, scrambled eggs(bit runny) cereals, fruit, salad + tea and coffee.

Evening meals were mostly good , but we went out a couple of times for some variety. But we did have kids with us.We would have probably gone out more if on our own, as it is not expensive.
Boro is fantastic , the ski-school was an experience though. Our instructor-Chris was crap. But i think we were unlucky , as most people were very happy. We did enjoy the skiing very much , but feel that we could have learnt more under better instruction. It was half term week , so the slopes and groups were very busy.
When you first go to the top of the Gondola it will take your breath away ! It really is worth going just for the amazing views.( Take your camera )
To summarize - you will enjoy the skiing ( good luck with the instructor ) The hotel is great. The resort is perfect for a virgin like you.Enjoy !
We will be back in Feb 2007

re: virgin skier going to borovets

samokov is fine, as others have said, go with an open mind and you will enjoy. i have allways found the kids instructors to be excellent there at the samokov.
