I was interested to read the topic on this, especially as last week when i went up to the ever helpful smiling immigration officer she didnt give me one of the white visa slips, so being british i asked where was the white form and she just pointed at the numerous stamps and said no need, any one got any ideas what happened???and why???(ps this isnt one of daniels jokes)

The stamp is you entry visa which also has an exit date.When you leave this is checked and confirmed.

The white slips of paper are issued by the hotel and handed to the border control official. This requirement however has not been so strictly enforced over the past six months.

I think they were in a good mood that day.. Other postings have pointed out that its not a requirement, which is true. I think the closer we get to the start of the tourist season they will start giving them out again. I dont want to lecture and im sure you know this because you have bought property in Bg but (just in case) the stamp you get on entry is just that.. an entry stamp. Its not a visa. A visa must be applied for outside Bg, when you have one its then possible to apply for an ...

The sensible answers thanks!, the others well.............. my point really is have you tried reading those stamps? could be just me but half my 'entry' stamps are done so slap dash you couldnt read the date anyway.From our point this hassle will only continue untill eu membership, and trully i reckon it will have gone before then anyway........BG is more of an euro country than we are now!!

Just to add, Gary is correct about this.As for reading the visa stamp, there is no need as they pass it thourgh a barcode system that is in your passport, thus pulling up all information about when you came and went to and from the country.

For over staying your prmission to stay eg a 30 day stay/ normal tourist stamp by just 1 day will cost you between 500leva- 2000leva (they normally fine the highest unless you can appeal within 10 days the 'Act' was written)
2nd fine: Fixed 5000leva (unless you can appeal again, they dont normally accept an appeal the second time though)
3rd fine: Fixed 10,000leva and a Black stamp in your passport, Dont bother going back to bulgaria.. ever. I wont tell how many of these fines i have paid ...
