visas for bansko

My other half is South African and requires a visa for entry to Bulgaria. We are flying out on 22nd Jan. He went to the Bulgarian Embassy this morning (got there at 8.20, it opens at 9.30). At 9.30 an official came out and handed the first 50 people tickets to obtain visas and told the rest of the queue to come back tomorrow ( he was no. 52 in the queue). Does anyone have any advice or had to obtain visas themselves?

re: visas for bansko

Sorry I can't be more help Claire but I think the best advice would be to get there really early and get in the first 50. I have worked in imigration and know that if you are told there are short cuts they are normally illegal. You can down load the forms from the Bulgarian embassy in Londons website. Check and check again that you have everything required. Immigration staff are not there to make your life difflecult so if you make there life easier by having all the info correct I'm sure ...

re: visas for bansko

I was there a few months ago and if you weren't there by 8.30 then forget it. You could always pay someone to stand in the queue for you and get them to ring you just before you go in. Things are getting busier now as the popularity of BG grows. I suppose that's our fault for raving about it so much Confused Just remember that they are not open on Wednesays as you may think you're right at the front of the queue, but in reality you have another 24 hours to wait..

Good luck any way.
