we always took the BT freeway ones - have a4 or 5 km range and you can get PTT headsets so can use without taking gloves off or getting a device out of pocket. Not lost contact with the kids yet (but that might change with the Stoikite runs)

Deffo go for ones that have a minimum of 5km range. It's not the distance, but more the mountain range it has to overcome.

bought Motorolla 27 miles range 2 way radio especially for our trip next week. Think its a great idea not to lose each other for not even one second Smile
