We are returning to Borovets in Jan 05. Didn't find time to walk last year but would like to do so this time. Can anyone recommend any good walks and also the best place for walking info or maps.
Dont meen to be sarcastic, but in jan im' hoping there will be deep snow to ride not walk, we are going jan 8, ive' always wanted to meet the Partridge family when are you going.
In Borovez are different walking routes all in Rila National Park, they have different difficults and the most of them are walked in the winter to. So you need good boots and clothes.
The most beautiful trips are these to Chakar Voivoda (6-6,5 hours) and to the Mussala Hut (5-6 hours).
Easier tours are to the Schernata Skala ( the Black Rocks).
You can buy maps in the resort or in Samokov, even you can book guided trips in Borovez, but ...
Hey Partridge Family,
first thanks Ellie.

You can buy maps in the resort or in Samokov, even you can book guided trips in Borovez, but then you ride the half way with the Gondola.
Please check the messages I wrote to Victoria last week about Samokov, there you can find the link to my pics from the last years...
If you need some more information write me...
P.S. The routes are all marked and at the National Park you find big Signs and Cards...

That sounds really good - we will definitely give it a try. If the 6 hour hike is one way it might be a bit much for us but if it is round trip we may well give it a go. The Black Rocks walk sounds great. Thanks for all your help.
Do you live in Borovets - if so would love to buy you a drink. We are staying at the Rila, as we did last year, from 2-8 January.

So this is the time for both the way to the Hut and back to the resort.
Sorry but I don't live in Borovez, even not in Bulgaria and doesn't look so that I will be in Borovez the same time as you. But wish you a great time and a lot of fun.
