Last Xmas in Pamps was OK we flew out on the 19th and it snowed for us on the 20th enabling us to ''ski'' on the 21st. There was only about 30cm at the top of the mountain though but it was enough for beginners. Xmas day was a fantastic day with loads of sunshine and drinks. I think you might be safer at Bansko due to the altitude. If however you were asking about the weather in Sydney Australia I don't have a clue !!!
I think it is a safe bet that the weather in Sydney at xmas would be good Dave! To be honest Jane xmas does seem to be a hit and miss in Bulgaria not sure I would chance it but you never know.
Personally I wouldn't risk Xmas in Bulgaria. Yes Bansko is high altitude and you may be OK at the top but unless they have very good early conditions the ski road won't be open and that is one of the nicest things about Bansko, skiing down the 7km through the trees at the end of the day.
Only my opinion of course but I would favour Feb or March personally.
