The web cams in Bansko are finally up and running. There are three of them placed on the slopes and I am am so annoyed I am not there now. But at least I thought of changing my name.

Enjoy!!
I have seen them and the conditions are looking better and better. One seems to show a mountain bar? I am going on 26 Feb and can't wait. Any particular bars you could recommend either on the slopes or in the town would be great. My husband and I are in our early 50s, intermediate skiers and enjoy a few drinks. Would particularly be interested in local bars with music etc. Definitely not interested in the 24 hour english pub. Thanks a lot.
Thanks George. Enjoyed your report and will investigate the mountain bars, as you do!! We are staying in the Hotel Pirin. Generally it seems that facilities in most hotels are good but food may be not so good. However we plan to have a good few meals out in the town as we understand that it is all very well priced. Where are you going skiing this year or have you been?
Val,
I stayed in the Pirin last year and will be again in 3 weeks time. It's a great hotel, probably a UK 3 star but all new ,clean and tidy.
Make sure you use the health spa facility, the pool is very clean with views straight out onto snow and the sauna and team bath are also new, modern and clean.
There are a number of nice authentic Mehanas within a five minute walk of the hotel.
The food whilst not great is the best hotel food I have had in Bulgaria so you might want to eat ...

Trust me, you will love Bansko !
Oh and (beer) is about 35p a bottle in the Mehanas
I was at Pirin last week- and it is a decent hotel. I agree the facilities are good and the food relatively poor and uninspiring- but OK. We ate out 4 out of 6 nights and thoroughly recomment the Chardaka Lialev (turn right immediately by the statue and it is facing you. We ate a HUGE mixed grilled of meats fresh from the bbq- steak, chicken, pork ribs, sausages all beautiful and with a bottle of red it was about six quid a head- brilliant value.
You WILL love Bansko- SO friendly and so ...

Anyone notice that the webcams on the official site seem to show different pictures all the time.... there looks like there are more than three to me! I think that some of them are rotating too... not bad! Staying in the Perun with my wife from the 26th Feb - 5th March.... anyone else?
