First Choice are normally pretty good. Not sure about THomson. They give out you ski pass and hire tickets then I think the welcome meeting is in the evening

Been with Thomsons past couple of years and they have a schedule sheet with a list of things to do throughout the week, Quiz night, Fun Bowling night, Bum Boarding, Snowboarding, Skadooing etc. etc. and you just tick what you want to do and pay.
They weren't pushy about it.
I think we met in reception on first morning for liftpass cards etc and had a meeting in the evening.

Went with Thomsoms over Xmas, Given a welcome pack on the coach when leaving the airport, Met rep in the hotel reception on the first morning to be given tickets for Lift pass, equipment hire, and tuition. In the evening then met up,with the rep for the welcome evening to explain about all the bar crawls, folk feasts etc.

re: welcome meeting 1st day

I have been with Thomsons before and they gave out passes etc on arrival at hotel so didn't need to bother with welcome meeting. Also you can get fitted with skis earlier on Sunday hilst everyone else is at the meetings
