what's there to do?

Hi we are a family who have booked to go to Borovets ,staying at the Samokov, on Sat for a learn to ski holiday. We are worried about the snow situation - will we be able to ski? and if not how will we fill our week?Any advice wuold be great.re: what's there to do?

The snow at the top should last you the week.
Walk down and accross the road to the Gondola. Up the Gondola to the top(be aware there is a middle station- don't get out there) and when you come out of the top station (left out of the door and then right at the top of the path) go down the hill to where the two restaurants are and on the right hand side past the restaurants you'll find a nice little button lift(slow one too) which is great for kids and takes you 500 ...

The snow at the top can be icey in the morning - don't rush up there at first light.Once you've mastered the basics it's a case of explore the other button lifts(very fast - be careful - not good for snowboarders) or go the other way - turn left at the top station and go down the Yestrabets runs. Go for the one marked with a 1. The other ones either go all the way to the mush and mud at the bottom (thats the one by the T bar lift) or it's a black run marked with a number 0 - that's the one that goes off to the right and seems to disappear off a cliff. Then you just go half way down to the middle staion which is down a path to the right once you see the sign for someone sledging, and go back up and start again. If you really don't fancy going down some steepish slopes you can always get back in the Gondola and go all the way to the bottom again - it's a good "get out of jail free" card if kids are too tired to ski or board any further.
If there really is no snow - go ice skating at the little rink just up from the Samokov (4 gbp for adults and 3 gbp for kids for as long as you want including skates). If all else fails take it in turns to eat at Mamacitas(really good Mexican), Katy's steak bar, Franco's Pizza etc. There's a swimming pool at the Rila and a pretty good gym. The Samokov has a bowling alley and other massage/beauty therapy suites etc.
If all else fails - go walking in the woods.

Sorry to advise but all the restaurants you mentioned and ice rink will be close on sat, if they have not closed all ready. The ice rink will also close at the weekend. Nevertheless, you should have the enitre mountain to yourself as there are very few skiers in the resort next week. There is also snow forecast for the top of the mountain so skiing will be ok. There is rain at the botton, so skiing there will not be possible.
