Just got back - conditions are generally very good on the slopes, with the best stuff at the top of the gondola. Get over to the highest drag lift (Number 3) and you will find some amazing powder in the bowl there. The Yastrabets area is also excellent and very quiet, but the main drag is a very long T-bar which is difficult for boarders.

We stayed in the Ela, which is opposite the Samokov, and that was OK. Rooms were nice and warm, if a bit shabby. Food was a bit strange but ...

Some people in my groups said that the Samokov was too big and impersonal and that the rooms were cold. They do a nice line in crepes in the reception area though - 2 levs, a bargain.

Hope you have a great time.

re: whats borovets like

A good bit of off piste boarding is between the pylons that hold up the Gondala. Just go round the back of the top station and drop down onto it. Best in the powder. Narrow track with trees and pylons to avoid but great fun
