Hi, we are hoping to go to Borovets next Feb for the first time as new skiers and are looking for self catering accom. Can anyone recommend somewhere cheap that is near ski runs and town as we have kids in the party or a chalet that can accommodate about 12 people.
Family rooms at the iglika although its half board, its still cheaper than most self catering, and near shops and slopes. the family rooms are large and food is pretty good as far as the hotels go.
iglika villas accomodate upto 6 people, so you could hire 2. we're going this year on 30th Jan. Heard good reports and you can use facilities of the hotel, (pool etc)
They are right next to the slopes. Obviously I can tell you more when we get back. Booked with Balkan - About £320 per chalet and a separate flight with easy jet.
Hi, thanks for your reply, do you mind me asking how much your flights were and what month you booked them and have you arranged a transfer from the airport and how much that cost. Many thanks. Jeanette

Our flights were £135 per person with easy jet from Manchester, but if you live in the south I believe Wizz air do some good deals from Luton. We booked them in August.
We got a transfer through Kas from this site for about £20 each, however, as there is a lot of you, you will probably get a better deal. Lots of places do transfers, Motoroads do a bus for 14 people for £150 return.
Iglika villas also do an upgrade to half board option for £6 per day, well worth it ...

Not sure if you have thought about ski packs, if you are a begginer you should definately consider ski school. Balkan do a full pack (lift pass, ski hire, boot hire, and 6 days lessons) for £140 - an absolute bargain
Hope this helps, I learned to ski in Borovets 4 years ago and have been back every year since, it a brilliant place and so cheap compared to the rest of Europe.
Let me know if I can be any more help and I'll report back on the villas in a few weeks
Hi again, we have been on one skiing holiday in France 08 but i am still snow ploughing so we need easy green and blue, what are they like in Borovets are there any wide open easy runs and would you think they will get very busy in Feb and is it dear to eat out, sorry for so many questions but i do not know anyone who has been before. Thanks again
Jeanette
There are plenty of easy green and blue slopes to practice on and also some long pathways from the top of the mountain to the bottom (not very wide but also not steep - green all the way down) to go on while your still learning, these are really good and because they're long it means your not constantly on and off lifts. Even as you get better the reds are very wide.
I would think you'll be fine in Feb as long as you avoid half term, its quiet a small resort so it can get busy at peak ...

As far as eating out goes, it is much much cheaper than anywhere else in Europe, (I paid £26 for 2 coffees and burgers last year in France!) and also cheaper than in the UK. I cant really remember exact prices, but again I can let you know in a few weeks. Drinks are cheap, about £2 a pint, £1.50 hot wine, also lots of happy hours / offers on. I think we spend about £200 each last year, we ate out every lunch time, 2 evenings and went out for drinks every night.
