which currency???

Hey there, I am going to Bansko on Sat 15th, which currency would you advise taking with me? I live in Ireland so can take Euros, I am transfering through England so I could get some £'s out there. Or would it be better to get some Lev out of a Cash machine when I get there? I've been trying to read up but found the info confusing. any help would be appreciated! thanks! re: which currency???

I always take lev and sterling. Not sure which part of Ireland you're from but Euros are fine too. I use cash machines in the resorts and usually get a good exchange rate. Very Happy

Thanks for your help Borogirl!
I am from England but living in Dublin.
So if I go to pay for food or drinks in a bar/restaurant which currency would they accept for payment? Lev & Sterling?

re: which currency???

In Bulgaria, everything is lev, unless you are buying something big like property. Very Happy

re: which currency???

Hi Ginny,
We only took Lev's with us and a cash card in case we ran out, which we didn't!!
If you take sterlin there was plenty of places to get it changed. Although i think i'd only stick to the hotels some of the other places looked a bit dodgy!!

re: which currency???

Regarding hard currency the Euro is better value than sterling since the rate dropped. The lev is fixed at about 1.95 per Euro, but at the mo you only get about 2.5lev to the pound.
